US abortionists are taking legal action to stop legislation which seeks to protect the unborn in Texas.
The Texas Heartbeat Act, set to come into effect from 1 September, outlaws abortions from around six weeks except in medical emergencies.
But abortion giants Planned Parenthood and the Center for Reproductive Rights are opposing the new law.
The Act allows private lawsuits to be launched by any citizen against abortion providers or anyone else who may have helped someone to obtain an unlawful abortion.
The abortion providers claim that if the Heartbeat Act is enforced it may lead to abortion clinics being closed and deter individuals from assisting in abortions and accuse the State legislature of being hostile “to the rights of pregnant people”.
Are we really any more human than the babies we see on the ultrasound monitors?
But pro-life group Texas Right to Life said the lawsuit was “a desperate measure”.
Pro-life campaigner Mark Lee Dickson said: “Does the sound of our heartbeat mean more outside the womb than it did when we were inside our mother’s womb? Are we really any more human than the babies we see on the ultrasound monitors? Texans cannot ignore the facts”.
