The US state of Tennessee has declared June to be “Nuclear Family Month”.
In contrast to those who promote ‘LGBT Pride’ in June, Tennessee will officially celebrate the family — defined as “one husband, one wife, and any biological, adopted, or fostered children” — as “God’s design for familial structure”.
Signed into law by Governor Bill Lee this month, Joint Resolution 182 emphasises the state’s responsibility in upholding traditional family values.
Fathers
The document filed in 2025 highlighted the critical issue of fatherless homes, noting that “fatherless families are four times more likely to live in poverty than married couple families”.
It warned that fatherless children are “ten times more likely to abuse chemical substances” and are also more likely to develop mental health issues.
In addition it stated that “the nuclear family is under attack in our beloved State and nation, and it is our responsibility to uplift, protect, and support values that help Tennessee prosper”.
Marriage
Speaking earlier this year, Danny Kruger MP highlighted the importance of marriage for a healthy society.
In an interview with The House magazine, the MP for East Wiltshire explained that society is “suffering” due to the policies that have weakened marriage, as such policies are “critically important to the way families form”.
“Marriage traditionally was the means by which sexual relations between men and women were regulated, and I think we are suffering from having a totally unregulated sexual economy.
“I’m not interested in your love life, or anything about your personal life – that is your business. But I am interested in the framework in which you make your decisions, and I’d like the framework to be more pro-social. If you want – most people do want – to settle down with one person to have children, we should make that easier.”
