An ‘incredible’ 550 baptisms at Bridlington beach

Around 550 people have been baptised at a beach in Bridlington.

Calvary Chapel member Merlin Kraft, known as BibleLadUK on social media, invited people seeking baptism to gather at the beach on 10 October. Hundreds turned out and were baptised in the North Sea.

Kraft explained that local churches had been in touch with him to say that people who had been baptised were attending church the next day. He encouraged all who came to the beach for baptism to join a local Bible-believing church if not already part of one.

Public declaration

The influencer praised God for the “incredible” day, writing: “550 baptised at Bridlington. 170 at Bigbury-on-Sea. Bible sales soaring, and my inbox is absolutely RAMMED with people wanting to publicly declare their faith in Jesus Christ!”

He added: “Britain, God is not finished with this nation!”

“Behind every baptism is a life, a story, and a public declaration of faith in Jesus Christ.”

The Principal of Tyndale House, a biblical studies library in Cambridge, commented: “550 baptisms at a single event could be a record in Britain, with perhaps even larger numbers than are reflected in Bede’s Ecclesiastical History, which records baptisms in the North of England in the early seventh century.”

Gospel proclaimed

The previous week, at Manchester’s Co-op Live arena, thousands gathered to hear Franklin Graham share the Bible’s message of hope and peace.

Following the event, the US evangelist praised God for the hundreds of people who “responded to the invitation to repent and receive Jesus Christ by faith”.

Graham preached: “God sent his Son, Jesus Christ, from heaven to this earth on a rescue mission to save you and me — to save humanity — from sin.”

He continued: “Jesus was nailed to the cross. He shed his blood for your sin. He was buried for your sins. And on the third day, God raised his Son from the dead.”
