Watch: Drop extremism plans after Choudary case

The conviction of Anjem Choudary is an opportunity for the Government to drop counter-extremism proposals, The Christian Institute has said.

Choudary was found guilty of inviting support for the banned group calling itself Islamic State, under section 12 of the Terrorism Act 2000.

Ciarán Kelly, Head of Communications at The Christian Institute, said the conviction showed that current legislation was sufficient.
