The Queen: ‘Take heart from the risen Christ’

“The discovery of the risen Christ on the first Easter Day gave his followers new hope and fresh purpose and we can all take heart from this”, Her Majesty the Queen has said in her first Easter message.

In her second address to the nation within a week, The Queen, who has often spoken of her deep Christian faith, said that amid the coronavirus outbreak “we need Easter as much as ever”.

She added: “We know that Coronavirus will not overcome us. As dark as death can be – particularly for those suffering with grief – light and life are greater. May the living flame of the Easter hope be a steady guide as we face the future.”

Encouragement

The 93-year-old monarch recently gave only the fifth televised address of her 68-year reign to thank NHS workers and encourage UK citizens as the nation tackles the pandemic.

“May the living flame of the Easter hope be a steady guide as we face the future.”
