A group of parents has formed to campaign against the “coerced medicalisation” of children who believe they were ‘born in the wrong body’.
Our Duty says it will lobby the Government and the NHS against the ‘affirmation model’, where children who say they are transgender are rushed into medical treatments with little evaluation.
The group was formed after one mother said giving hormones and surgery to those with autism or psychological disorders is “state-sponsored sterilisation”.
Online forums
Almost all of the families in the group have a child who “suddenly” identified as transgender.
Some of the children are autistic, and almost all of them are girls.
Another common factor is that the children decided they were transgender after talking to friends or others online about gender identity.
‘Delusion’
One mother said: “It just doesn’t make any sense that hundreds of young vulnerable people with mental health issues like my son are being led by the LGBT lobby into the delusion they were born the wrong sex”.
A father explained: “My daughter is not transitioning, she is being transitioned by an LGBT cult and by medical professionals. If the mind is telling you the body is wrong, fix the mind, not the body.
“If they proceed to surgery we’re talking about removing healthy breasts and wombs from young women and functioning penises from young men to be replaced by extensions and inversions with high complication rates that require lifelong maintenance.”
Puberty blockers
Earlier this month, a mother announced she was suing the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust’s Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS) over its use of puberty-blocking drugs.
She says her 15-year-old daughter is autistic and cannot properly consent to being given the treatments.
The mother says procedures should be put on hold until more is known about the effects of hormone-blocking drugs.
