Comic strips that “reference or depict sex” are on display at London’s Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration.
According to The Daily Telegraph, the ‘Queer as Comics’ exhibition depicts male and female genitalia and graphic sex scenes. In addition, transgender ideology is promoted.
Despite a content warning, under-15s may enter the gallery if accompanied by an adult. Under-fives go free.
Pornography
Family Education Trust’s Lucy Marsh told the newspaper: “Most families will associate Quentin Blake’s illustrations with their children’s favourite Roald Dahl books, so would never imagine that the exhibition would contain explicit sexual images.”
She added: “The organisers should remove the pictures immediately or inform families that the minimum age is 18+ due to the obscene pornography on display.”
One member of the public observed: “Many things point to the centre being something for children: its family discount, advertised children’s activities, the cute cartoon birds in its branding as well as the fact that it is named after a children’s illustrator. It was to our surprise, therefore, when one of the only three exhibitions was devoted to sex scenes in cartoon format.
“We made it through very little of this exhibition before we decided to leave, but I was surprised to see some parents persisting with their under-fives who get free access to the centre, allowing them to peruse the sexually charged fantasies of selected artists.”
‘Scourge’
Gisèle Pelicot recently called out the “evil” epidemic of pornography. Pelicot made headlines for waiving anonymity during the trial of her then-husband and the 49 other men who assaulted her while she was unconscious.
Speaking to Times Radio, she believed her former husband had been exposed to the “scourge” of pornography from a very young age, and urged parents and educators to be vigilant in protecting young children from it.
According to England’s Children’s Commissioner, 27 per cent of 11-year-olds have been exposed to pornography.
