Same-sex marriage in the US should be overturned to protect children, a new coalition has declared.
Greater Than, which includes allies such as Them Before Us (TBU), Focus on the Family, and the Family Research Council, has been launched to press the Supreme Court to overturn its 2015 Obergefell v Hodges ruling that imposed same-sex marriage on every US state.
The coalition says children should no longer be deprived of having both a mother and father, and hopes to influence public opinion on the “link between natural marriage and child protection” and the vulnerability of children who have been “sacrificed in service of adult desires”.
‘Irreplaceable’
TBU’s Founder and President Katy Faust, who is spokeswoman for Greater Than, explained: “Since the redefinition of marriage a decade ago, we’ve seen the consequences: parenthood treated as replaceable, and children deprived of the unique love and guidance only a mother and father can provide.”
“Which is why this coalition of parents, faith leaders, influencers, nonprofits, and policy makers have linked arms to undo the harm of Obergefell, push the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn it, and to protect the rights of children nationwide.”
The coalition debunked claims that children equally benefit from same-sex parents, stating: “Every credible study of family structure proves that biological connection advantages children, mothers and fathers offer distinct and complementary benefits, and parental loss diminishes child outcomes.
“Studies of same-sex-headed households — which are always missing a biological parent, maternal or paternal love, and in which the child has suffered parental loss — largely suffer from poor methodology.”
Wedding anniversary
Writing in LifeSiteNews, Journalist Doug Mainwaring reflected on the good decision he made by ending his homosexual relationship for the sake of his children.
“In the summer of 2003, five years after my wife and I had separated and divorced, I bought an engagement ring and was ready to ‘propose’ to a man I had been dating.
“But before I could do so, I got smacked in the face by reality: My sons didn’t need another Dad in their life; They needed one thing and one thing only: For their Mom and I to get back together and love each other ’til death do us part.’
“It took nearly a decade, but my wife and I put our marriage back together again. That was 15 years ago. Last July, we celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary.”
