Man becomes grandad at just 29 years old

A 29-year-old man has become one of Britain’s youngest grandfathers after his daughter gave birth at the tender age of 14.

The grandfather, Shem Davies, was just 14 years old himself when he became a father for the first time.

Now history has repeated itself as his daughter Tia has now given birth to a baby girl a week before her 15th birthday.

Dad

While Mr Davies describes himself as being “absolutely delighted” at the new arrival, he expressed shock when he first learned of the pregnancy.

He said: “One minute Tia’s a baby, the next she’s pregnant. I could have yelled at her, but what’s the point?

“I know how hard it’s going to be for them because I was in their shoes at the same age. I didn’t handle it very well when I became a dad at 14.”

Nightmare

And Kelly John, the new baby’s grandmother, said: “My worst nightmare has always been that Tia would repeat my mistake and get pregnant young. I always lectured her about contraception.”

Baby Ava Grace was born ten weeks early and is currently being cared for in an incubator; she weighs less than two pounds.

Last October it emerged that a woman who became Britain’s youngest mum at the age of twelve had been evicted from her house after “blighting” her neighbours’ lives with drugs and loud music.

Evicted

Amy Crowhurst moved into the three-bedroom house in 2009 but she was evicted following complaints from neighbours.

Miss Crowhurst, who was arrested for growing cannabis in 2009, became pregnant after a one night stand with a 15-year-old boy, and she became pregnant again three years later.
