A new survey shows more than seven in ten Britons do not want it to be easier to change legal sex.
In a YouGov poll of 1,688 adults, just 28 per cent said that changing sex should be made easier with 47 per cent opposed to a change in the law.
The figures come as a former Health Minister described transgender ideology as “dangerous”.
Oppose
Almost two-thirds disagreed with removing the requirement of a medical diagnosis before changing sex.
A majority also opposed allowing a man to access female-only changing rooms or lavatories unless he has undergone ‘gender reassignment’ surgery.
Last month, The Sunday Times reported that Government proposals to allow people to change their birth certificate without a medical diagnosis would be shelved.
Regressive
Former Health Minister, Jackie Doyle-Price MP expressed her concerns about the trans lobby in an interview last week.
Doyle-Price said: “It seems really regressive that we’ve sort of re-adopted gender stereotyping and almost made it a science”.
She slammed activists who encourage girls to think to question their gender, describing it as “so dangerous”, adding “we just need to give children the chance to grow up”.
