Apologist shares the Gospel on top podcast The Diary of a CEO

Canadian apologist Wesley Huff has given “the case for Jesus” on one of the world’s top podcasts.

Steven Bartlett invited Huff onto his podcast, ‘The Diary of a CEO’, to explore Christianity and talk about the growing interest in the Bible across the US over the course of the two-and-a-half-hour episode.

The episode released on Monday entitled ‘The Truth About Christianity! The Case For Jesus (Historian’s Proof)’ has reached over two million views on YouTube.

Christian resurgence

Huff explains that expressive individualism and the new atheism movement have failed to answer people’s most “transcendent” questions, leading younger generations to return to their Judeo-Christian foundations.

Turning to the Bible itself, Huff explained the historical evidence behind the text, what it is, and why its claims are reliable and convincing.

He stated: “I believe that that the multivalent argument for the truthfulness with the capital ‘T’ of Christianity has a historical backing, and a philosophical backing, and a scientific backing, and a psychological backing and all of those things”.

Why you exist

After exploring theories of creation, the pair discussed the central question of why we exist.

Huff said: “The Bible is such an amazing explanation for that. Because in a world that tells you ultimately that you’re a product of time plus matter plus chance, the Bible looks at you, Steven, and says you’re created with meaning and purpose and intention. You bear the image of God.”

“Ultimately our purpose is to live a faithful life to who we were created to be in being image bearers of God and being faithful in loving God with everything that we have.”

He stated: “You have the capability to do incredible things, and the reason why you have that capability is because you bear the image of a creator”.

Crucifixion

When Steven asked about heaven and hell, Huff explained: “The Bible is very clear, all good people go to heaven. But Jesus said, ‘No one is good but God alone’.”

“Heaven isn’t full of good people. Heaven is full of people who understand they are not good enough.”

He emphasised: “You are not saved by what you do, right? You’re saved by works, it’s just Jesus’ [works]. Jesus lived the life you couldn’t and made the sacrifice you can’t, on your behalf, in order to establish that right relationship with God.”
