Adults get naked in front of teenagers in the name of ‘education’ on Channel 4

Channel 4 has come under fire for its new programme in which adults exposed themselves to a group of children as young as 14.

‘Naked Education’ claims to be “all about body positivity” and is “on a mission to normalise all body types, champion our differences and break down stereotypes”.

Ofcom received almost 1,000 complaints following the opening episode. Shocked viewers and MPs criticised the show for allowing a group of adults to strip naked in front of the 14 to 16 olds.

Not education

Anna Richardson, one of the presenters, said she likes to make shows that are “controversial, that break taboos” and that “Naked Education is one step further than Naked Attraction”.

Among the adult guests who exposed themselves to the teenagers was a YouTuber who reviews sex toys and a “life model and artist” who offers sexually explicit classes on Instagram.

One viewer commented on Twitter: “Showing children under 16 strangers standing fully naked in front of them. Why? Absolutely not. They do not need to see strangers fully naked to be educated on the body.”

While another said: “They get naked in front of kids. Why oh why is this being allowed?”

‘Extremely concerning’

Miriam Cates MP said: “From an early age we teach children that intimate parts of their bodies are private. This is to help protect them from abuse and to reinforce important social boundaries that keep women and children safe in public.

“It is therefore extremely concerning that some people want to undermine these important boundaries by deliberately exposing children – who are too young to consent – to naked adult bodies.

“There seem to be no limits to the way that innocent children can be used by adults for political ends.”

Irresponsible

Jonathan Gullis MP agreed: “Adults stripping off in front of kids is not how responsible sex education should happen.”

Brendan Clarke-Smith MP also criticised Channel 4, saying: “I think there’s a big difference between learning what the human body looks like and what is effectively normalising stripping off naked in front of children.”
