Attendees of a Planned Parenthood fundraising event last week were told nothing is more important than abortion and that childbirth causes global warming.
Speaking at the event in Memphis, Tennessee, prominent feminist Gloria Steinem also took the opportunity to attack people with pro-life views.
Planned Parenthood, the biggest abortion provider in the United States, has been accused of seeking to profit from the body parts of aborted babies.
Last week, the Tennessee division of Planned Parenthood launched a campaign to raise $12 million, in order to open another abortion facility in the state, push pro-abortion education and lobby the Government.
During her keynote address at the launch event, Steinem said: “Nothing but nothing is more important than ensuring our fundamental right to reproductive freedom”.
She ridiculed people with pro-life views for opposing homosexual sex, saying that such people are “against any sex that cannot end in reproduction”.
“Forced childbirth is the single biggest cause of global warming”, she added.
An investigation into Planned Parenthood by pro-life group the Center for Medical Progress last year was seen as instrumental in a subsequent drive towards enacting pro-life laws.
By March this year, Indiana, Florida, Kentucky and Missouri had taken forward measures which sought to alleviate the harm of abortion in some way.
Several states also introduced measures to defund Planned Parenthood.
