A 45-year-old transsexual man is using a female changing room at a US college because of non-discrimination rules.
A legal organisation says the man has exposed himself in the presence of young girls who also use the changing room, and has called for the college to act.
Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) say the man “undressed and exposed his male genitalia on several occasions in the presence of young girls who use the college’s locker rooms”.
But according to a police report it is unlikely that any charges will be brought.
Colleen Francis, who was born as a man but has been living as a woman since 2009, believes the children need to be ‘educated’ over the issue.
ADF warned “notions about ‘non-discrimination'”, do not change the fact that girls “should not be exposed to naked men”.
The legal group, which supports the right of people to freely live out their faith, added: “The idea that the college and the local district attorney will not act to protect young girls is appalling.
“What Americans are seeing here is the poisoned fruit of so-called ‘non-discrimination’ laws and policies”, it said.
Students from Olympia High School and children in the Evergreen Swim Club and Aquatics Academy also use the changing rooms at Evergreen State College.
An Evergreen spokesman claimed state law means the college “cannot discriminate based on the basis of gender identity”.
A local school district spokesman said a temporary solution is for the children to use a smaller changing room next to the main room.
One parent told a local TV news station about the children’s response: “They’re uncomfortable with him being in there, her, being in there and they are a bit shocked by it”.
Speaking to the same station, KIRO 7, Colleen Francis said: “This is not 1959 Alabama. We don’t call police for drinking from the wrong water fountain”.
