‘Indoctrinating kids with trans ideology abusive’, says top paediatrician

A leading paediatrician has warned against teaching children harmful transsexual ideas, saying it profoundly confuses them.

Michelle Cretella, President of the American College of Paediatricians, says the promotion of trans ideology in schools is “psychological abuse” that often leads to physical mutilation.

She made the comments in a video for the American news outlet The Daily Signal, which has been viewed over two million times on Facebook.

‘Indoctrinate’

“To indoctrinate all children from preschool forward with the lie that they could be trapped in the wrong body disrupts the very foundation of a child’s reality testing”, Cretella said.

Cretella added that doctors are encouraging children to ‘transition’ by offering puberty blockers, which can have dangerous consequences.

“When supported in their biological sex through natural puberty, the vast majority of gender-confused children get better.

“Yet, we chemically castrate gender-confused children with puberty blockers.”

‘Psychological abuse’

She added: “Transgender ideology in schools is psychological abuse that often leads to chemical castration, sterilization, and surgical mutilation.”

Cretella was also critical of allowing people to ‘self-identify’ their gender.

Cretella said: “If I walk into my doctor’s office today and say, ‘Hi, I’m Margaret Thatcher,’ my physician will say I am delusional and give me an anti-psychotic. Yet, if instead, I walked in and said, ‘I’m a man,’ he would say, ‘Congratulations, you’re transgender.’”

She pointed out that gender is not “assigned” and is instead “determined at conception by our DNA”.

Self-declaration

Earlier this year, the UK Government revealed that the Gender Recognition Act would be reviewed, saying medical checks should be removed to allow for self-declaration of gender.

Equalities Minister Justine Greening announced plans to make it more straightforward to ‘change sex’.

Both Prime Minister Theresa May and Jeremy Corbyn are supportive.

But women’s groups, therapists, doctors, academics, campaigners and transgender activists have challenged the plans.
