Divorced gay couple now want their own kids with third man

A gay couple from Canada who divorced after starting a relationship with a third man are now planning to have children that are as “genetically close” to them as possible.

Adam Grant and Shayne Curran married in 2011, but the following year decided to be more ‘open-minded’ about their marriage. They met Sebastian Tran in a night club and got a divorce soon after.

Shayne explained: “We never intended it to be anything serious, we certainly never planned on taking on a full-time third partner by any means. It was just bit of sexual experimentation.”

Equally bound

Adam continued: “We divorced so everything would work out legally with the three of us. The commitment Shayne and I made to each other still stands but now Seb is part of that commitment too.”

He added: “Although being married to more than one person is not yet legal, we have spoken to lawyers who can draw up paperwork to make sure we are equally bound and obligated to each other in the eyes of the law.”

The three men now say they want to start a family with the help of Sebastian and Shayne’s sisters.

Love is love

Shayne said: “We want to mix our genes enough so that our kids are as genetically close to us as possible. But, we are open to adoption too. Children are a huge part of our future plans.”

Sebastian said they “really do have a sense of completion” with their current relationship: “Right now, it’s about the three of us.”

Adam explained: “We just want to say that love is love. It should be multiplied not divided. It shouldn’t matter if you’re in a three-way or a four-way relationship.”

During the campaign against same-sex marriage in England and Wales, the Coalition for Marriage highlighted the potential risk that redefining marriage could lead to people pushing for the legalisation of polygamy.
