Four women were forcibly removed from a gender ideology event after organisers claimed they made the speaking panel ‘feel uncomfortable’.
Women’s rights campaigner Julia Long and three other women were attending the Accenture International Transgender Day of Visibility Panel Event.
The four women were accused by police officers of potentially ‘breaching the peace’ and raising ‘security concerns’.
‘Open to everyone’
The panel included Susie Green, head of transgender children’s charity Mermaids and Jay Stewart, Chief Executive of trans-activist group Gendered Intelligence.
Green has a history of making complaints to the police.
Event organisers previously sent a message to ticket holders, saying: “Please be reminded that this event is centred around inclusion, open to everyone of all ages.”
Despite this, organiser Helena Pradip confronted the women, saying: “My panel does not feel comfortable with you here.”
A ‘disgrace’
Julia Long said the response was a “disgrace”.
“We were just sitting there having a quiet chat at an open event and were asked to leave with no-one able to tell us what we’d actually done wrong.”
“Almost every meeting women have tried to hold over the past year to discuss the impact on their rights of transgender demands has been met with protest and disturbance with police offering little to no assistance to ensure women’s safety.”
“And yet within half an hour of receiving a complaint about a trans event seven police officers were dispatched because the presence of four women was considered a threat.”
Legal action
The women are considering legal action against the police and Accenture.
Susie Green recently complained to police about broadcaster Caroline Farrow.
Mrs Farrow had challenged Green via Twitter for taking her son to Thailand for ‘sex change’ surgery.
Police were set to interview Farrow under caution but Green withdrew her complaint.
