‘No exaggeration to say trans debate like Nazi hatred of Jews’: trans activist

Parents discussing gender dysphoria online are like Nazis fomenting hatred of Jews, a transsexual journalist has claimed.

India Willoughby made the astonishing comparison while saying people may violently protest unless the media and Government took action.

And the activist said a Cabinet minister who has spoken in favour of free speech on the issue “needs hauling in to the PM’s office”.

‘No exaggeration’

In an article for homosexual news website PinkNews, Willoughby took aim at the Mumsnet website, comparing it to “a Nuremberg Rally”.

Claiming the site “has its claws out for the trans community”, the journalist and activist also lambasted The Sunday Times and the Daily Mail for their coverage of the issue.

They are “hounding trans women in the same way Hitler went about stigmatising Jewish people”, Willoughby wrote, adding: “Seriously. That’s no exaggeration.”

“It’s all very similar to the way the National Front used to operate.”

‘No exaggeration’

Mumsnet carries content on children’s parties, pregnancy, and holidays; as well as debates on transsexualism.

Its founder, Justine Roberts, recently warned that “thought-police” were shutting down debate on the forum and labelling discussion “transphobic”.

In the article, Willoughby took issue with Mumsnet users arranging national meetings and debating current events, criticising the site for “hosting rampant transphobia”.

Stonewall riots

On Liz Truss – the senior politician who said free speech was important on Mumsnet – Willoughby said she should be rebuked by the Prime Minister.

And referencing plans to liberalise the law, Willoughby concluded, “unless the government sorts out its act with the Gender Recognition Act, we may find ourselves with a modern-day version of the Stonewall riots”.

Last year India Willoughby spoke out against Dame Jenni Murray over comments on transsexualism.

‘Dinosaur’

Dame Jenni said in The Sunday Times that sex is defined at birth, and not selected at a later date.

But Willoughby said the presenter was a “dinosaur”, adding: “Let’s hope a similar extinction is coming for her in the not too distant future”.
