A mother of two has spoken of her joy at finding a ‘fantastic’ Christian fostering agency, which is unlike anything else on offer in the UK.
Rachael Ezra told The Christian Institute how Cornerstone’s distinctive Christian approach to placing children in loving homes has played a vital role in her own family’s journey towards adopting children.
In an exclusive interview she said the key thing about Cornerstone is that “they promote permanence” using a model known as ‘Forever Families’.
She added that the organisation is particularly suited to Christian families who are keen to foster and adopt without being discriminated against for their faith.
The agency itself was subjected to an investigation in 2008 by the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC), over its long-standing policy of only placing children with committed Christian married couples. The investigation was triggered by new equality laws coming into force.
The agency successfully responded with the help of The Christian Institute’s Legal Defence Fund.
Cornerstone is now looking to expand its work across the UK and continues to help place vulnerable children with loving families like the Ezras.
Rachael told the Institute how “Cornerstone have been fantastic in their delivery of training”, as well as helping the family identify what they’re capable of coping with.
The Ezras are currently going through the fostering process and are hoping to adopt children in the near future.
