‘Abortion regret still hurts me now’, says rapper

Rapper Professor Green has shared his sadness over an abortion his former girlfriend had many years ago.

The rapper, whose real name is Stephen Manderson, says he still thinks about the decision and urged those in a similar position to open up to others.

He went into detail about the “sad story” in an interview with The Sun on Sunday.

‘Regretted it’

“We decided to have an abortion because we didn’t want our child to go through the same stresses we went through growing up.”

“Almost as soon as we’d done it we realised we regretted it. It stuck with me for a long time afterwards and it still hurts now”, he added.

The 34-year-old went on to say: “I do still think about it. It’s so important people talk about stuff, because that was a decision born of us talking to each other but no one else.”

‘Sea of pain’

Another father has spoken movingly about the “sea of pain” he experienced after his child was aborted.

Writing for the Telegraph in 2014, Tony Perry stressed that abortion is a “choice that has an impact on men as well as women”.

Tony wrote, “for many, abortion is a big deal that can leave regrets long after that choice is made. It is also a choice that has an impact on men as well as women”.

Choose Life

He added: “Perhaps the general assumption is that abortion doesn’t really affect men. Perhaps I would have shared that assumption had I not lived through it myself.”

The Christian Institute’s Choose Life series includes the story of Lynn Coles, who had an abortion but now helps people who are suffering.

Lynn told the Insitute: “It’s not a religious thing to regret your abortion, it’s actually a human thing, a woman thing – because we’re not designed to take the lives of our children”.
