Who runs the theatre?
His Majesty's Theatre is publicly owned by Aberdeen City Council (confirmed in correspondence from the Council). The management of the theatre is contracted out to the company 'Aberdeen Performing Arts'. The Board of Directors of 'Aberdeen Performing Arts' includes Aberdeen City Councillors.
How is the theatre funded?
During 2004/05 Aberdeen City Council funded a £2,855,000 refurbishment of His Majesty's Theatre. During 2004/05 the Council also gave £1,566,308 to 'Aberdeen Performing Arts'.
