An amendment tabled by Baroness O'Cathain which sought to ban the creation of so-called 'saviour siblings' to provide spare-part tissues for the treatment of an existing child. The vote took place on 15 January 2008 during consideration of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill. The amendment was lost by 118 votes to 62.
