Embryo

A Parliamentary committee is currently considering the Government's controversial Human Tissue and Embryos Bill. The committee is due to publish its report on Wednesday 1 August 2007.

The Bill proposes:

  • allowing scientists to grow combined animal-human embryos which will be destroyed at 14 days of development
  • ending the requirement for doctors to consider a child's need for a father when referring women for fertility treatment
  • allowing the creation of a genetically-modified child who has two mums and one dad

The Christian Institute has submitted written evidence to this committee. Download our submission here:

Issue 10 of Update, The Christian Institute's magazine, also contains information about the Bill.
