Gay Police Association advert

Gay police ad was the
most complained about

GPA advert

The advert caused over 500 complaints to the Advertising Standards Authority

An advert by the Gay Police Association which suggests Christian beliefs cause violent attacks against homosexuals was the most complained about advert in 2006 according to the advertising regulator.

In a record year for complaints to the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) the GPA advert was the most controversial, attracting more than 500 complaints.

In addition, tens of thousands of Christians are thought to have complained directly to the Police.

The ASA upheld the complaints about the advert which appeared in a national newspaper in June last year. The regulator found that the advert was offensive, untruthful and unsubstantiated.
