Two-parent families are "brutally" discriminated against under the tax credit system, according to a report by MP Frank Field and the Reform think-tank.

The report shows that under tax credits, a single parent working 16 hours a week could receive a total income of £487. Whereas in an identical situation, two parents would have to work a combined total of 116 hours a week to achieve the same earnings.
