Religious Hatred Bill:
date of crucial vote

The crucial vote by MPs on the Religious Hatred Bill will take place on Tuesday 31 January. This news was announced on Thursday 19 January.

The outcome will influence gospel freedom for generations to come. Every vote will count.

MPs will decide whether to accept the full safeguards introduced by the Lords or vote for a weaker amendment by the Government.

The Bill contains an ‘incitement to religious hatred’ offence which could outlaw criticism of other religions and threatens gospel freedom.

In October the House of Lords voted to amend the Bill to protect free speech and evangelism. We want MPs to accept this amendment in full without any changes.
